Manual therapy

Photo: Manual therapy in progress

Hands-on joint and soft-tissue mobilization for pain and stiffness that exercise alone won't fix.

Manual therapy uses hands-on mobilization to restore normal joint movement. It's most useful when back, neck, or shoulder pain persists despite regular exercise.

Price: 27,00 € (special physiotherapy techniques)

How it works

Manual therapy uses hands-on mobilization techniques for joints and soft tissue to restore a normal range of motion. When a joint is stiff, the muscles around it compensate and stay chronically tense no matter how much you exercise.

After mobilization, exercise has a much bigger effect — that's why we often combine manual therapy with an individual home exercise program.

Manual therapy isn't chiropractic: it's gradual, dosed mobilization performed by a physiotherapist, not sudden joint manipulation. On our price list this service is listed as special physiotherapy techniques. It's most often sought by patients with lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and sciatica.

Treatment steps

  • 1Assessing joint mobility and compensation patterns
  • 2Targeted hands-on mobilization of the affected segment
  • 3Exercise recommendations to maintain the regained movement

Who it's for

Frequently asked questions

Should I stop exercising while getting manual therapy?

No, keep up gentle exercise unless the therapist says otherwise — manual therapy and exercise work together.

How quickly will I notice a difference?

Many patients notice a greater range of motion after just the first session.

Is manual therapy painful?

It should be tolerable — some mild pressure is possible, but the therapist adjusts intensity to your tolerance.

Is manual therapy the same as chiropractic?

No. Manual therapy is gradual, dosed mobilization of the joint and soft tissue performed by a physiotherapist, without the sudden manipulations associated with chiropractic.

Why is it listed as special physiotherapy techniques on the price list?

That's the name for the same service on our official price list — manual therapy falls under special physiotherapy techniques, at €27.00 per session.

When should I see a doctor instead of booking manual therapy?

If your pain comes with unexplained weight loss, pain that wakes you at night, numbness in the groin area, loss of bladder or bowel control, fever, or worsening weakness, see a doctor before booking with us — these can be signs that need more urgent medical attention.

Are there contraindications for manual therapy?

Yes. We don't use manual therapy on a recently fractured bone, with spinal instability, during an active inflammatory joint flare, over suspected tumor at the treatment site, or with more advanced osteoporosis without prior medical clearance. The therapist reviews your health history before the first session.
